Creator Agreement

Version 1.0

These terms are in force and written in plain language on purpose: you should be able to actually read them. Professionally reviewed updates will follow as we grow; we’ll notify you if anything material changes.

Between you (the "Creator") and Sixth Degree Creator Marketplace Inc., an Ontario corporation ("Sixth Degree"), supplementing the Terms of Service. Where they conflict for creator matters, this agreement wins. Last updated: August 8, 2026.

1. Your status

You are an independent contractor of the brands you work with and of Sixth Degree. Nothing here creates employment, agency, or partnership. You're responsible for your own taxes (collaboration fees are paid gross; Canadian creators may owe income tax and, above thresholds, GST/HST; talk to an accountant). You may work with anyone, on or off the platform, except as §6 limits fee circumvention for platform-made connections.

2. Doing the work

For each collaboration you accept, you agree to:

  • create content that follows the campaign brief and the platform rules;
  • disclose the paid partnership as Canadian law and the platform require (#ad or the platform's paid-partnership tools): this is a legal requirement (Competition Act), not a style choice;
  • post within the campaign window and submit the live post URL;
  • keep the post live for at least 30 days unless the brand agrees otherwise or safety requires removal;
  • report metrics honestly. Insight screenshots you upload are read by automated tools and labeled creator-reported; falsifying them is a material breach.

3. Getting paid

  • Your fee is shown before you accept and is paid in full; the platform's fee is charged to the brand on top, never deducted from you.
  • Money is escrowed when the brand funds the campaign; you can see it as "held for you" in Earnings.
  • Your fee releases when the brand confirms the live post, or automatically 3 business days after the post is confirmed live if the brand doesn't act.
  • Up to two revision rounds are included: if the brand requests changes consistent with the brief, you'll make them; requests beyond the brief are a new negotiation.
  • Payouts arrive via Stripe to the bank account you connect. You must complete Stripe onboarding (identity verification) before accepting work.

4. Content rights: the important part

  • You own your content. Copyright in what you create stays with you.
  • Brand's licence: upon release of your fee, the brand automatically receives a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to use the delivered content for organic marketing (posting on their own channels, resharing your post, their website and newsletters), with attribution to your handle where practical.
  • Not included: paid amplification (running your content or likeness as ads, boosting, whitelisting/Spark-style access, third-party licensing). That requires your separate written agreement and can be paid separately.
  • Platform licence: you grant Sixth Degree a licence to host and display your content and profile within the platform (directory, collaboration records, campaign recaps) and, only with your OK per instance, in Sixth Degree's own marketing.
  • You promise the content is yours to license: original, or fully cleared (music, other people's faces, locations as applicable), and not misleading about the product.

5. Verification and standing

Verification is decided by Sixth Degree's team, assisted but never decided by automated tools, and may be re-checked periodically. Your track record (completions, on-time rate, ratings) is displayed to brands. Buying followers/engagement, click manipulation on tracked links, or repeated no-shows are grounds for removal; escrowed work in flight resolves per the dispute process.

6. Non-circumvention

For relationships that began on Sixth Degree, both you and the brand agree to run paid collaborations through the platform for 12 months from first contact. After that, or for relationships that predate the platform, work however you like.

7. Ending things

You can stop taking new work anytime; accepted-and-funded collaborations finish or resolve via dispute first. Sections 4 (licences already granted), 1 (taxes), and 6 survive.

8. The legal frame

Ontario law; Toronto venue; the Terms of Service's liability limits apply. This document plus the ToS and Privacy Policy is the whole agreement between you and Sixth Degree about creator work.
